The Scottish tennis player Andy Murray has revealed the secret of his success at the Australian Open. He’s eating a lot of Sushi.

The superstitious Scot has had a meal at his favourite Japanese restaurant chain the night before every match.

And the pre-game ritual has worked a treat so far as he strolled into the quarter-finals yesterday.

The world No4 usually scours cities to find a branch of the Nobu chain but didn’t have to go far this time – because there is one at his Melbourne hotel.

Andy said he can lose nearly half a stone during a tough match and scoffs 24 pieces of sushi to refuel.

The 24-year-old, from Dunblane, said: “I’ll let you in on a little secret to my success to date.

“Well, it’s probably not a secret to the staff that work at Nobu, given I’ve eaten there the night before my wins to date.

“I love my sushi.”

He admitted having 24 pieces of sushi, plus some side dishes, may sound a lot but added: “There is method behind the madness.

“When you play a match it can really take it out of you and sushi is a good way to get the energy back in.
