A man from Bakersfield- California, was arrested for allegedly cooking and eating cats.

Jason Louis Wilmert has been detained at the Kern County Jail and held under misdemeanor charges. The 36-year-old Californian is charged with alleged animal cruelty and using a pet or domesticated animal for food.
Reports suggest that a number of stray cats had been skinned and then grilled. One neighbor in the locality reportedly said: “The lady right here saw him holding a tail, skinning it. It is still alive … I heard a cat cry really, really loud. And I came outside, because I’m an animal lover.”
There needs to be comprehensive laws in place as also legislation drafted to make eating of cats or even dogs illegal, in view of so many calls of animal cruelty by animal rights activists and animal lovers.
